Edward Wright-Baker (born June 23, 1990) is an American football player who currently plays quarterback for the Indiana Hooisers.

High school career

Wright-Baker went to Jeffersonville High School in Jeffersonville, Indiana.[1] There he was coached by Steve Cooley, and was a teammate of Hoosier defensive end Mike Carter. He set 12 career records at Jeffersonville and finished his career as the school's all-time passing leader with 6,558 yards, 271 completions and 511 attempts. As a senior, he was responsible for 2,597 total yards and 31 touchdowns, earning him all-state honorable mention and first team all-area. He was responsible for 2,779 total yards and 39 touchdowns his junior season and was named honorable mention all-state, area player of the year and first team all-area. With Edward under center, Jeffersonville earned the 5A sectional title for the first time in the decade. He was also a three-year basketball letterwinner. He was rated the No. 20 dual-threat quarterback nationally by Rivals.com, the No. 36 athlete nationally by ESPN.com and the No. 45 quarterback nationally by Scout.com He was also ranked the No. 12 prospect in the state of Indiana by Rivals.com.

Wright-Baker committed to Indiana University on June 20, 2008.[2] Wright-Baker also had a football scholarships from the University of Kentucky, Louisville University and Purdue University.[3]

College career

2009

In 2009, Wright-Baker sat out the season by taking a redshirt, to get better acquantted to Bill Lynch's offense.

2010

Wright-Baker appeared in five games, including four Big Ten contests. He completed 5-of-12 passes for 80 yards with one touchdown and one interception while rushing eight times for 25 yards.

2011

He was named the starting quarterback for the 2011 season, beating out Dusty Kiel and 2010 Indiana Mr. Football, Tre Roberson.[4] Wright-Baker started the first four games of the season, with the Hooisers going 1–3. For the team's week five contest, they decided to start Kiel.[5]
